What Is Open Heaven? A Complete Guide
If you've ever visited a Nigerian home, attended an RCCG church, or browsed a Christian bookshop in Africa, you've almost certainly encountered Open Heaven — the daily devotional guide produced by the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
The Origin of Open Heaven
Open Heaven was introduced as the official daily devotional of the RCCG under the leadership of Pastor E.A. Adeboye. Each edition covers a daily scripture reading, a teaching, a prayer point, and a "Further Reading" passage. Over the decades, it has grown from a slim booklet into a massive publishing enterprise with editions in multiple languages.
Why Is It Called "Open Heaven"?
The title draws from the biblical concept of heaven being open over a person or community. When heaven is "open," divine resources — revelation, blessing, healing, favor — flow freely to earth. The devotional's goal is to help readers position themselves daily for this kind of open-heaven experience.
Who Writes Open Heaven?
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is the primary author of Open Heaven. His simple yet profound writing style has made it accessible to believers from all educational backgrounds.
How Many People Read Open Heaven Daily?
Estimates suggest that Open Heaven has over 500,000 daily readers across print and digital formats. In Nigeria alone, it is arguably the most widely distributed devotional guide.
